Sharon B. Wasserberg MAED
Director of Education

Sharon Wasserberg is the Director of Education at Adath Israel.  She earned her BA at Northern Illinois University in De Kalb Illinois where she studied Sociology and Psychology as well as acquiring teacher certification for grades 6 through 12.  Many years later, she returned to full-time graduate school study at the University of Judaism in Los Angeles and was awarded both a MAED and B.Lit (Bachelor of Hebrew Letters and Literature).

Before graduate school, Sharon taught Religious School for about 25 years, directed a Stepping Stones Program, and was a Sisterhood President.  Following grad school, she served JRC in Evanston Illinois for five years as their director of education.  The next three years found Sharon as the director of education of two conservative congregations in Milwaukee (at the same time) and the principal of their three-year combined religious school program.  That ‘experiment’ ended in May 2005.  A nationwide job search, heavily influenced by a life-long friendship of a Milwaukeean and Cincinnatian, brought her to Adath Israel.

Somewhere along the way, she had three children who survived her parenting skills and become wonderful adults.  (Two are now married and have made her a Bubbie.)  In her spare time, Sharon enjoys a good game of Scrabble and completes Sunday crossword puzzles in ink.

Upon returning Milwaukee , Carri worked with Sharon for three years at an experimental joint religious school, Beth Torah Religious School , as her assistant and also teaching Torah to the third grade.  When the school broke apart in 2005, Carri moved to Chicago where she worked for KAM Isaiah Israel in Hyde Park.
The next year, Carri married her now husband, Scott, whose job brought them to Cincinnati .  Currently, Carri works at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion.  Carri has a son, Joseph.  If she had any free time, she would enjoy playing the clarinet, being artsy and going on hikes.
